Scripta — Teleprompter
A free Android teleprompter and text-to-speech reader. Local-first. Offline. Ad-free. No accounts, no cloud, no tracking. Read your scripts, hear them spoken, share them cleanly.
A Teleprompter You Can Actually Use
The idea for Scripta came from watching how content creators, journalists, teachers, students, and public speakers actually work with scripts — printed on paper, scrolled awkwardly on phones, or memorized through brute force.
Every day, millions of people read from scripts: a YouTuber recording a video, a teacher preparing a lecture, a journalist delivering a news report, a student presenting a project. They print scripts on paper, tape them to walls, or hold phones awkwardly while recording. When they lose their place, they pause, re-record, and waste time.
There are apps for this. But most of them are too limited, cloud-locked, ad-heavy, expensive, or English-only. We asked a simple question: why should reading your own script require trusting someone else's server?
Scripta was built to answer that question. It's a local-first, offline, ad-free teleprompter and text utility for the three things that actually matter when working with scripts: reading them smoothly, hearing them spoken, and sharing them cleanly.
Three Layers of the Script Problem
Most tools only address one. Scripta solves all three.
The Reading Layer
You need your script in front of you while speaking — hands-free, smoothly scrolling, at your own pace. Not on paper you have to shuffle. Not on a phone you have to hold. Scripta's floating overlay solves this.
The Hearing Layer
Sometimes you need to hear your script before recording. Pronunciation checks, timing runs, or just listening while you do something else. Scripta's text-to-speech reads your script in your language.
The Sharing Layer
When you need to send a script to a collaborator, client, or student, you need it clean — copyable, printable, or downloadable as a text file. Scripta gives you all three, without uploading anything.
Five Things. Done Right.
No server. No cloud. No account. Just a teleprompter that works.
Stores & Organizes Scripts
Each script has a title (auto-generated from first line), content, and timestamp. All stored locally in a Room database. Search is instant. Sort by newest, oldest, or title.
Floating Overlay Teleprompter
Tap the floating icon, and your script appears as a movable, resizable window on top of any other app — your camera, YouTube app, Zoom call. Auto-scrolls at your reading pace.
Text-to-Speech Voice Reading
Tap the voice button, and Scripta reads your script aloud. Auto-detects language. Choose voice, pitch, and speed. Export as .wav file to Downloads folder.
Shares as Text, File, or Print
Copy to clipboard, save as text file to Documents/Scripta/, or print with a subtle watermark as multi-page PDF via Android's print framework.
Works Completely Offline
No internet required. No accounts. No sign-up. No cloud sync. No analytics. Install it, open it, start using it. Everything stays on your phone.
Your Scripts. Your Phone. Your Business.
Privacy is the entire point of Scripta.
All Data Local
Stored in a Room database on your phone. Inaccessible to other apps.
No Cloud, No Accounts
There is no Scripta server. No account system. No sync. Nothing leaves the phone.
No Analytics
No Firebase Analytics, no Crashlytics, no tracking SDKs. No usage logs, no events.
No Ads
No ad networks. StartApp integration was fully removed in v1.0. None. Ever.
TTS Stays Local
Uses your phone's built-in TTS. Text processed on-device unless you choose a network voice.
Scoped Overlay Permission
Only draws the floating overlay. Cannot read other apps, log keystrokes, or capture screenshots.
Only What's Needed
Scripta requests only the permissions it absolutely needs.

Credits
Scripta is designed and built by Awan IGD.
Special thanks to the AndroidX team for Room, Material Components, and the Print Framework — the pillars that made this app possible.
And thanks to every creator, teacher, student, and speaker who has ever lost their place mid-recording and wished there were something better.
Free. Forever.
Scripta is free, and there are no plans to change that. It exists as a public-good project — a way to demonstrate that useful, private, offline software can be delivered to ordinary people without a business model that treats user data as inventory.
The app is funded entirely by Awan IGD's other products and services. If users want to support the project, the About screen includes a welfare donation link.
Scripts, Readable, Speakable, Shareable
Scripta isn't trying to be the biggest teleprompter. It's trying to be the one you can actually use — because it can't do anything except what it says.
No servers. No accounts. No tracking. No tricks. Just your scripts, readable, speakable, and shareable — kept on your phone, owned by you.
That's the whole idea. Everything else is implementation.
